NOW STANDING AT ALPACA PALACE, PENNSYLVANIA, UNTIL LATE FALL 2016. Our first venture into the elite white alpacas was our purchase of Aztec D'Ann from MacLeod's herd in Canada. D'Anna has an impeccible pedigree including D'Arcy, Coyo Destini, and her remarkable dam Snappy. Her breeding to Artic Ice (from the Snowmass herd and now residing in Germany) was a major attraction. She was the high selling alpaca at the Canadian Futurity sale. Artic Ice's crias swept the Futurity show with three first places (in white classes) and the White Male Grand Champion, AND continued to be the high dollar winners for 3 years running. We were impressed by Zamboni the minute we saw him. His blindingly bright, long, soft fleece completely covered his solid frame. He held his crimp down to his toes on his back legs and right up his neck as well as down into his belly. As the youngest in his class at his first show, and in a group of 47 impressive white males, he took the White Male Color Champion at 9 months old at MOPACA - a Level IV show. He won over many males that ANYBODY would want in their herd with genetics from El Nino, Invincible, Legacy, Elite, Hemmingway, Snowmaster, Titanium, Archangel....and the list goes on. We were VERY excited. Zamboni won ANOTHER COLOR CHAMPIONSHIP at the Hi-Plains alpaca show and the ANOTHER COLOR CHAMPIONSHIP at TXOLAN over males sired by Legacy, Snowmass XXXtreme El Nino's Golden Legend, Camilio's Accoyo Endurance, Xanadu Resolute, Posiden, Legacy, Elite, and Snowmass Porteus, among others. AGAIN at 42 MONTHS, he took another championship again at Hi Plains against impressive competition. Zamboni has turned into a powerful young male. His phenotype leaves nothing to be desired. At 10 months, his fleece was over 6" long and the crimp holds right out to the tip. As an adult it is almost 5" long. It is consistent and fine. At two years, he sheared over 12 lbs. with a 7.2 lb. blanket. Check out his fiber data. 1 YEAR: AFD: 18.6 SD: 4.5 CV: 24 >30: 2% 2 YEARS: AFD: 19.8 SD: 4.5 CV: 19 >30: 2% 3 YEARS: AFD: 19.7 SD: 4.7 CV: 22 >30: 4% 4 YEARS: AFD: 20.0 SD: 4.0 CV: 20 >30: 2.8% Long lasting fineness and consistency...a very desirable trait. In the show ring, I have begun to see the negative effects of close line breedings - small, narrow alpacas with fabulous fleece, but poor skeletal structure like thin bones and narrow chests. I also have been hearing more and more about young animals not thriving and even dying possibly because of narrowing genetics. Many breeders find themselves boxed in from a breeding point of view because they have chased the admirable lines so well know - Caligula, El Nino, Hemmingway, Snowmass lines. Use Zamboni as an outcross breeding. He has one 1/2 brother in the US. Introducing unrelated, high quality sires improves hybrid vigor - the overall health of the alpaca - just as your vet. Call us. We can discuss your females and see if ther

Chaca (as we call him) is cute as a button, mild mannered and a beautifully expressed harlequin male. His third year histo was a 19.5 micron with a 4.2 SD - meaning he is fine and has some stronger uniformity; especially for a HARLEQUIN. He is a bit smaller in stature and along with his mild manner makes him a dream to handle and a dream to be around. His Mom is one of our favorites; Limestone Creeks Cloudburst, a harlequin herself and Dad is Cashmere U-Topia who we believe to be homozygous. So two parents who have a higher propensity to throw the gene.... Cloudburst's dad is the celebrated Ringo Cloud, an Orlando Cloud son. Her genetics likely contribute to Chaca's finer and more uniform fiber. We think Chaca is homozygous as we have several of his offsprings now, and guess what? ALL spotted. Technically - Chaca might be one of the better harlequins our dear friends at Willow Wind Farm in Colorado have produced and he is an absolute cutie. We are offering Chaca alone for $9000 For the new breeder who may have a strong interest in entering the appy/harlequin world? If it were me? This would have been an unbelievable point of entry...
